Hillside country club9/26/2023 Many beautiful crystal chandeliers and sconces brighten the room. The ballroom’s design is neutral and elegant, with ivory and white walls. The renovations include replacing all the flooring in the clubhouse with travertine tile, except in the ballroom, where new hardwood floors were put in. In keeping with Rehoboth’s rural character, the design is simple and elegant with many rustic touches, says Pimental. Hillside has a whole new look, with the interior reminiscent of an Italian Tuscany villa. The renovations include a remodeled club house, new and improved ballroom, a restaurant, an outdoor tiki bar as well as many other updates. More than $1 million has been invested in Hillside’s revitalization. “They christened the room, which I think was appropriate,” Pimental said. The golf team recently held a banquet at Hillside, the first at the new facility. When golf coach Bill Cute was looking for a new course for the team to play, Hillside stepped up. Hillside is now the home of Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School’s golf team. “In three months, he’s turned this course around,” Pimental said. The new owners brought in a new Course Superintendent, Henry Olstynski, to oversee renovation of the nine-hole, 60-acre golf course. The course was not maintained well and started to deteriorate. The semi-private golf course was open, but the facility had a limited staff. The Club ran into financial problems at the beginning of the year and filed for bankruptcy. When the new owners took over, Hillside was being run by a receiver. Partners in the project are John and Tricia Ferreira, Sue Pimental, Billy Gateman and David Darling. The new owners - David Darling, John Ferreira and Jack Gateman - bought the property in August. We’re trying to bring that back and add to it,” said Susan Pimental, General Manager. Many businesses and community organizations held functions here and about 40 to 50 weddings a year took place. “In its heyday Hillside had 200 members, a pool and tennis courts. Now Hillside has new owners and a new management team that want to make it a destination again while at the same time updating the style and adding some new features and services. The country club is known, not only known for its beautiful golf course, but as a place where many family and community functions were held over the years. I haven’t known this couple long, but they really stole a spot in my heart at this wedding.Hillside Country Club, an institution in Rehoboth for more than 40 years, is undergoing a major renovation. Their family and friends were so genuinely happy for them and I literally had tears in my eyes during the toasts. We had lots of really sweet moments during the day like a first look with Dad, Jonathan fixing Heather’s hair during the ceremony, when Hailey grabbed Jonathan’s face during the sand ceremony and gave him a big kiss, tears and laughs during the toasts, and last but not least Hailey and Jayden (ring bearer) dancing with each other. The ballroom with it’s beautiful crystal chandeliers and golf course with perfect landscaping. Then we made our way to Hillside Country Club, which is a gorgeous spot for a wedding. And the accessories in the room lended itself to some great detail shots. Heather and Hailey’s dresses were hung on beautiful windows so the light just filled them with detail. We started the day getting ready at Heather and Jonathan’s perfectly decorated home. They were so easy to talk to, excited that this day was ‘finally’ happening, and were so happy to have their daughter Hailey as part of the Big Day!Īs the day approached, we watched the forecasted temperature rise and realized the first heatwave of the summer was on the way! After photographing weddings in North Carolina the last few years, I thought this would be no ‘sweat’! Whew… it was a crazy day that started out raining with high humidity and then the sun came out – the humidity decided to stay! Everyone powered through and we found as much shade as we could to do the photos. When I first met Heather and Jonathan I knew this would be a very special wedding.
